The Pentagon revealed U.S. spending on the war with Iran

The U.S. military operation "Epic Fury" against Iran cost American taxpayers $33.4 billion in its first four months, according to a report by the Pentagon's Inspector General.

As reported by RIA Novosti, of this amount, $22.3 billion was spent on expended munitions, $7.4 billion on other operational expenses, and $3.7 billion on military equipment losses. The costs of restoring damaged infrastructure were not included in the estimate.

During this time, American forces conducted approximately 36,000 combat sorties and struck around 13,500 targets in Iran.

The high consumption of munitions led to a deficit in U.S. strategic stockpiles and revealed problems with their replenishment. Among the main difficulties, the Pentagon cited the production of solid-fuel rocket engines, shortages of explosives and rocket fuel components, as well as qualified workers.

On June 24, the White House requested an additional $87.6 billion from Congress, including $67.1 billion for the Pentagon. Of that amount, $21 billion is planned to be allocated for munitions.

According to the information, from February 28 to June 30, seven American service members were killed during the operation, another seven died as a result of non-combat incidents, and 417 were wounded. Four more service members were killed in July.
