A snake disabled high-speed trains between Tokyo and Osaka during "Golden Week"

An unusual incident disrupted the movement of one of Japan's busiest railway routes. During the national holiday known as "Golden Week", high-speed trains running between Tokyo and Osaka were stopped for an hour and a half - the cause was a snake that got onto a power line.
According to The Guardian, the incident occurred on April 30, when millions of Japanese began traveling around the country. The reptile wrapped itself around a high-voltage wire, causing a short circuit, which led to the suspension of train traffic on the key route.
Passengers, including tourists, waited more than an hour for service to be restored. Railway company representatives confirmed that the snake died from an electric shock.
