President Ilham Aliyev spoke about the development of Lachin at the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev at the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State in narrow format touched upon issues of strengthening cooperation in the humanitarian sphere and spoke about the development of Lachin.

As reported by BAKU.WS, the head of state noted: "At today's meeting, I would like to address issues of strengthening cooperation in the humanitarian sphere. I express gratitude to the heads of CIS states for supporting the candidacy of the city of Lachin in the East Zangezur region of Azerbaijan as the CIS cultural capital this year".

Emphasizing that in June of this year the opening ceremony of the "Year of the CIS Cultural Capital" took place in Lachin, President Ilham Aliyev said that during it, information was presented about the history and cultural heritage of this ancient Azerbaijani land.

"The guests of the event witnessed firsthand the rapid revival of Lachin after its liberation from 30 years of occupation by Armenia," - added the head of state.
