President Ilham Aliyev has instructed to raise the minimum wage next year. The increase will lead to higher incomes not only for low-paid workers but also for salaries across all grades of the Unified Tariff Scale (UTS).

As reported by BAKU.WS, this was stated by Vugar Bayramov, a member of the Milli Majlis Committee on Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship.

According to him, the monthly tariff and official salaries of employees in sectors financed from the state budget will also be revised and increased in accordance with the president's instruction.

"The wages of employees in these sectors will be raised regardless of how much they currently earn," the deputy stated.

According to Bayramov, after the minimum wage increase, salaries will rise for employees who do not have civil servant status and are employed in the social sector, science, healthcare, culture, youth and sports, agriculture, ecology and environmental protection, housing and communal services, transport and communications, land reclamation, water management, and fish farming.

He noted that the Unified Tariff Scale provides for 19 grades. The salaries of employees in the listed sectors who do not have civil servant status are set in accordance with this scale and are financed from the state budget.

"Currently, the monthly salaries under the UTS range from 400 to 1,150 manats: the first grade is 400 manats, and the highest is 1,150 manats," the economist explained.

Bayramov believes that raising the minimum wage will effectively lead to salary increases across all grades of the UTS.

"When the minimum wage is raised, it does not matter whether the employee currently earns more or less than that amount," he noted.

The deputy separately addressed the salaries of teachers and doctors. According to him, institutions under the Ministry of Health currently operate under the Unified Tariff Scale, so their salaries will also be increased.

At the same time, the Ministry of Science and Education and TƏBİB have separate remuneration systems based on quality criteria. Therefore, as Bayramov noted, the increase will not be the same for all employees in these sectors.

"At the same time, the salaries of low-paid employees will be increased in these sectors as well. Taking into account the differences between tariff grades, the increase may also affect other employees," the deputy said.

After the minimum wage increase, the new salary amounts under the Unified Tariff Scale will be approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.
