Jeyhun Bayramov: Azerbaijan, Jordan, and Turkey can implement joint projects
Azerbaijan, Jordan, and Turkey possess significant potential for the implementation of joint projects.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, this was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov at a joint briefing with the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan Ayman al-Safadi in Baku.
According to Bayramov, one of the key topics of the negotiations with his Jordanian counterpart was the development of cooperation in the field of transport and logistics, as well as the more effective use of the potential of the two countries to expand mutual access to neighboring regions and markets and strengthen economic interaction.
"With the direct participation of Azerbaijan, large-scale projects are being implemented for the supply of energy resources from the Caspian region to world markets. These include oil and gas pipelines, as well as the development of transport infrastructure, including the Baku–Tbilisi–Kars railway. All these projects pass through Georgia and Turkey. At the same time, under new regional conditions, the countries of the Middle East and the Mediterranean are actively developing new transport routes. Jordan is also carrying out preparatory work on the implementation of a number of projects in the direction of Turkey. We believe that Azerbaijan, Jordan, and Turkey possess significant potential for the implementation of joint projects," the minister said.
The Foreign Minister touched upon the issue of regional connectivity, emphasizing the growing role of the Middle Corridor.
"We are observing a steady increase in the importance of the Middle Corridor. Azerbaijan is actively developing transport and energy infrastructure, ensuring the supply of energy resources from the Caspian basin to world markets. Under the new regional circumstances, the states of the Middle East and the Mediterranean are also working on the creation of new transport routes," Bayramov stated.
The head of the foreign policy agency also emphasized that Azerbaijan is expanding the geography of its gas exports.
"While traditionally the main export markets for Azerbaijani natural gas were Georgia, Turkey, and European countries, since August of last year Azerbaijan has begun supplying gas to Syria. This means that Azerbaijani energy resources are already reaching a country bordering Jordan, and Azerbaijan is participating in the implementation of relevant projects. We believe that in this direction as well, very broad prospects for cooperation are opening up between Azerbaijan and Jordan," he said.
