The President of Syria has appointed a famous actress as a member of the new parliament
Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa has appointed well-known actress Rozina Lazkani as a member of the new parliament, which will serve during the transitional period.
This was reported by BAKU.WS citing the SANA agency.
According to the information, 70 out of 210 members of the People's Assembly were appointed directly by President Ahmed al-Sharaa. Among them was 36-year-old actress Rozina Lazkani.
Lazkani, who rose to fame through her role in the TV series "Al-Hayba," published a post on social media after her appointment, in which she expressed gratitude to President Ahmed al-Sharaa.
The actress emphasized that the trust placed in her became one of the most important turning points in her career, and she promised to make every effort to live up to it.
Notably, Rozina Lazkani had not previously held any positions in government institutions or in the political sphere.
Among the 70 parliament members appointed by al-Sharaa are relatives of civil war victims, former prisoners, as well as survivors of chemical attacks that occurred during the rule of Bashar al-Assad.
Of the 70 appointed members, 15 are women. Including 6 additional female members determined by the electoral commission, the total number of women in parliament reached 21.
