In recent years, the decline in the Caspian Sea level has increasingly occupied a prominent place on the international agenda.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, this was stated by Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Rauf Hajiyev during World Environment Day (WED).

According to him, environmental protection is a shared responsibility: "The topic discussed today is of great importance. The decline in the Caspian Sea level in recent years is causing serious concern, and its consequences are already affecting ecosystems, the economy, and the lives of coastal communities."

Rauf Hajiyev reported that research into the causes of the Caspian Sea level drop continues, including the impact of climate change, river runoff, hydrological processes, and water use. According to him, various scientific approaches to this problem are being developed.

The Deputy Minister added that bilateral expert working groups have been established in connection with the decline in the Caspian Sea level:

"These platforms serve for the exchange of information and experience, as well as the development of scientific cooperation. In the upcoming period, the strengthening of scientific research, monitoring, and data exchange, as well as the expansion of cooperation among Caspian littoral states, will be of particular importance."
