Jahangir Askerov became the main shareholder of Premium Bank

Former president of CJSC Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) Jahangir Askerov has become the main shareholder of Premium Bank.
As BAKU.WS reports with reference to Report, the shares came under his control after the death of his wife Zarifa Gamzayeva on January 17 of this year.
Before her death, she owned 84.5% of the bank's authorized capital. 15.2% of the shares were controlled by VIP Aviation Services, and 0.3% by Elvira Akhmedova.
Recall that Premium Bank was established in 1993 under the name AZAL Bank, in 2008 it changed its name to Silk Way Bank, and in 2018 it underwent another rebranding. At the end of 2021, its authorized capital amounted to 154.6 million manats. In April of this year, the bank increased its authorized capital by 20 million manats or by 12.9%, to 174.6 million manats.
