When will the fiber-optic line laid along the bottom of the Caspian Sea be put into operation?
The Trans-Caspian fiber-optic communication line, laid along the bottom of the Caspian Sea between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, is expected to be put into operation in less than a month - before the end of 2026.
As reported by Oxu.Az, this was announced by Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov at the annual CAMCA regional forum, bringing together representatives of Central Asia, Mongolia, the South Caucasus, and Afghanistan, which is being held in Baku.
According to him, the project will create a new high-speed connection between Europe and Asia.
"We have been part of this regional architecture for many years. As I noted, political cooperation was further developed in November 2025, when Azerbaijan became a full-fledged participant in the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia - the first country outside the region to join this format. A few days ago, the ministers of trade and investment of the Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan met for the first time in such a format. Our goal is to bring the regional trade turnover to 20 billion dollars and organize joint production of goods under the Made in Central Asia brand," the minister noted.
