The gender pay gap in Azerbaijan is narrowing: while in previous years women's salaries were about 54% of men's salaries, by the end of 2025 this figure has reached 67%.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, this was stated by Milli Majlis deputy Ali Masimli at today's plenary session of parliament.

"However, in some areas the gap still persists. For example, in the construction industry, women's salaries are 52% of men's salaries, and in the financial sector - 56%. These figures are below international practice," he noted.

Milli Majlis Speaker Sahiba Gafarova, commenting on the statements made by the deputy, emphasized that differences in pay between men and women were observed not in the public sector, but in the private sector.

"Therefore, when discussing this topic, it is essential to emphasize that differences in wages between men and women do not pertain to the public sector," said the speaker.
