Hikmet Hajiyev: Azerbaijan has provided housing for 300 thousand internally displaced persons
Azerbaijan has provided housing for approximately 300,000 internally displaced persons affected by the conflict and occupation of the country's territories.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, this was stated by the Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev at an event within the framework of WUF13 in Baku.
According to him, during the years of the conflict, especially in the early 1990s, following Armenia's occupation of Azerbaijani territories, the country faced serious housing problems.
"During that period, the government of Azerbaijan provided internally displaced persons and refugees with all possible support, offering them housing, affordable food supply, and other social services," Hajiyev noted.
He emphasized that the state also introduced a number of social benefits to improve the well-being of internally displaced persons.
"The main demand of these people was to return to their homeland and to be able to live there in safe and dignified conditions," the presidential assistant stated.
According to Hajiyev, despite the difficult conditions of that period, Azerbaijan took important steps to improve the housing conditions of internally displaced persons.
"Approximately 300,000 housing units were built and provided for the use of internally displaced persons, which made it possible to create more comfortable living conditions for people," he added.
