Trump addressed Apple with an unexpected demand

Former US President Donald Trump called on Apple corporation to move iPhone smartphone production to the territory of the United States. Otherwise, according to him, the company may face the introduction of 25 percent tariffs.
"I have long told Tim Cook that iPhones sold in the US should be manufactured right here - not in India or anywhere else. If this doesn't happen, Apple will be obligated to pay a tariff of at least 25%," Trump wrote on his social network Truth Social.
According to Bloomberg, in the fiscal year that ended in March 2025, Apple produced iPhones worth about $14 billion in India, which is approximately 14% of the total production volume. Currently, India provides about 18% of the global output of these smartphones, while China accounts for over 75%.
