Ilham Aliyev received Muhammad Mustafa
On July 16, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Prime Minister of the State of Palestine Mohammed Mustafa.
As reported by AZERTAC, the head of state expressed confidence that Prime Minister Mohammed Mustafa's visit to our country would contribute to strengthening the fraternal relations between Azerbaijan and Palestine.
The President of Azerbaijan emphasized that he supports the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine with its capital in East Jerusalem.
Noting that it was an honor for him to meet with the head of our state, Mohammed Mustafa conveyed the greetings of President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas to President Ilham Aliyev.
The head of state expressed gratitude for the greetings and asked to convey his greetings to Mahmoud Abbas as well. President Ilham Aliyev fondly recalled Mahmoud Abbas's visit to our country, as well as his meetings with him within the framework of international events.
Mohammed Mustafa reported that a difficult situation has currently developed in Palestine. He expressed hope that with the help of friends they would be able to overcome this situation. In this regard, he expressed gratitude to the head of our state for the support provided by Azerbaijan to Palestine, including the intention to build a secondary school in Palestine as humanitarian support.
During the conversation, the opening of Azerbaijan's representative office in the city of Ramallah, as well as the Azerbaijani state's coverage of the expenses for maintaining the Palestinian embassy in our country were regarded as indicators of the high level of bilateral relations.
At the meeting, it was noted that following the "Conference on Establishing the Islamic Financial Safety Net" and the "Donor Countries Conference on Financing the Sectoral Development Plan for the City of Jerusalem" held in Azerbaijan in 2013, Azerbaijan provided Palestine with financial assistance in the amount of 5 million dollars. It was emphasized that our country also provides assistance to Palestine through the UN organization UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East).
The fact that 37 Palestinian students are studying in Azerbaijan was highly appreciated, 23 of them under the "Heydar Aliyev International Education Grant."
The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the head of our state for this.
During the conversation, the issue of exporting certain types of agricultural products from Palestine to our country on preferential terms was discussed, and an exchange of views on issues of mutual interest took place.
