Russia's Central Bank Gold Reserves Drop to Lowest Level Since February 2020
As of July 1, 2026, the Bank of Russia's gold reserves amounted to 73.4 million troy ounces, marking the lowest level since February 2020.

According to the information, over two months - May and June - the gold reserves decreased by half a million ounces: from 73.9 million as of May 1 to 73.4 million as of July 1. In June, the decline amounted to 300,000 ounces, following the trend of reserve reduction throughout 2026.
Since the beginning of the year, the Central Bank has sold 34 tonnes of gold, including 6 tonnes in May, making Russia the leader in sales among the world's central banks, according to information from the World Gold Council.
At the same time, the world's central banks increased their reserves by 41 tonnes in May, yet the Russian regulator continued to dispose of the precious metal, thereby reducing the total volume of its reserves to 2,292 tonnes.
A troy ounce is the primary unit of mass measurement used in the jewelry and banking industries for weighing precious metals. It equals 31.1034768 grams.
