Scientists: Iceland's Volcano is Cracking, Preparing for Major Eruption

An alarming discovery in the depths of Iceland has caused the scientific community to raise the alarm. A massive 100-foot crack has formed beneath the island's surface, triggering a series of seismic tremors that continue to shake the region.
According to experts, this geological phenomenon could be a precursor to one of the largest volcanic eruptions in the region's history. The situation in the town of Grindavik, located on Iceland's southwestern coast, is particularly concerning, where more than a thousand underground tremors have been recorded since autumn 2023.
Geophysical studies show a discouraging picture: the crack continues to grow in size, creating a real threat of volcanic catastrophe. Due to the ongoing seismic activity in the Grindavik area, local authorities are developing an emergency evacuation plan for the population.
