Former UFC champion in two weight categories Conor McGregor has expressed interest in the idea of holding a mixed martial arts tournament on the grounds of the American presidential residence, which was recently proposed by Donald Trump.

Recall that Trump announced his intention to hold a UFC tournament at a specially built arena near the White House on July 4, 2026 - the day marking the 250th anniversary of the adoption of the US Declaration of Independence.

"It would be an honor for me. I'm in," McGregor commented on this news on social media.

"July 4th next year will be a Saturday," he later added. "When I step onto the White House lawn to fight, I will have been the acting President of Ireland for almost a year already."

McGregor also hinted at who he might face in this bout by posting an AI-generated image of his face-off with Michael Chandler against the backdrop of the White House and Trump. Chandler, quite predictably, enthusiastically responded to this hint, expressing his readiness for the fight.

Note that at the time of the proposed White House tournament, Conor McGregor will be almost 38 years old (he celebrates his birthday on July 14), and the break in his performances will be nearly five years - the last time he entered the octagon was on July 10, 2021, when he lost due to injury in his third fight against Dustin Poirier.
