American retiree defeated Alzheimer's disease by changing three things in her life

81-year-old pensioner from Virginia, Judy Benjamin claimed that she managed to overcome Alzheimer's disease. According to the woman, she had to change her diet, sleep and physical activity regimen, as well as conduct professional mold removal in her home.
According to Judy Benjamin, she encountered symptoms of Alzheimer's disease at 67. These signs were familiar to her, as relatives - her mother and several uncles suffered from this disease. Tests later confirmed her fears.
Benjamin sought help from the world-renowned neurologist and Alzheimer's specialist, Dr. Dale Bredesen, who developed a treatment plan. Instead of medications typically used in these cases that can cause side effects, Dr. Bredesen relied on a more individualized and comprehensive approach. He analyzed how various metabolic and lifestyle factors, such as diet, physical activity, and sleep, could affect Alzheimer's disease.
Benjamin underwent extensive testing to identify imbalances in these areas, then made changes to her diet, supplement intake, physical exercise, sleep optimization, stress reduction work, and elimination of potential toxins from the environment.
Based on examination results, Benjamin was recommended to follow a nutrient-rich diet, including organic products, without sugar and processing.
"People often ask what specifically I did to reverse cognitive decline. The answer isn't simple because I had to completely change my lifestyle, diet, sleep, and physical activity. I stopped eating sugar, artificial sweeteners, and ultra-processed foods. I switched to organic food when possible and increased the variety of vegetables. No sugar. No junk. No regrets. Just real food, real nutrients, and real results," explained the pensioner.
Then Benjamin underwent testing for environmental toxin levels. The impact of heavy metals, pesticides, and industrial chemicals on the woman was analyzed. It turned out that the pensioner lived in a house affected by mold and was surrounded by high levels of toxins. To solve the problem, the pensioner sought help from professional mold removal specialists.
"After the mold was removed, I underwent a lengthy detoxification course for my body, which took several months," she said.
The detox program included drinking large amounts of water to maintain kidney function and eliminate toxins through urine. The next step was sleep restoration. According to Benjamin, her sleep was previously "terrible" because she slept only 4-5 hours a night.
"I learned to relax in the evening, dim the lights, turn off all electronic devices, and cool the bedroom. I started meditating daily to reduce stress levels and took up yoga. I also started doing brain training exercises, particularly the BrainHQ program," she said.
According to Benjamin's treating physician, sufficient and deep sleep is important for clearing the brain of amyloid proteins associated with Alzheimer's disease, which can reduce symptoms, especially in the early stages.
After all these measures, according to the pensioner, Alzheimer's disease retreated. This happened "gradually in various areas, but some symptoms disappeared after three months, for example, short-term memory loss." More than ten years have passed since the diagnosis, and Benjamin claims she has completely recovered.
According to the pensioner, there were difficulties during the first year of rehabilitation. Due to fatigue or poor sleep, symptoms temporarily returned. In a conversation with the Daily Mail, she emphasized that she managed the program, and over time, setbacks became less frequent.
"It's important to understand that this is a process that takes time. Just as it took time for the brain to become impaired. Patience and dedication to healing are important," explained the pensioner.
