Ukraine Reacted to Putin's Idea to Meet with Zelensky in Moscow

Today's Kremlin proposal for a meeting between the leaders of Ukraine and Russia in Moscow is unrealistic and effectively aimed at prolonging the war.

As UNIAN reports, this was stated by Dmytro Lytvyn, the communications advisor to the President of Ukraine.

According to him, Putin is now "simply dragging out the war and again proving that pressure is needed to force him into real diplomacy and peace."

Zelensky's advisor noted that at least seven countries are now ready to provide a venue for the leaders' meeting. "The only problem is that Putin himself doesn't want this. For now," Lytvyn emphasized.

As Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga reported on social network X, commenting on Putin's statement today about meeting with Zelensky, at least seven countries are ready to host a meeting between the leaders of Ukraine and Russia to end the conflict: Austria, the Holy See, Switzerland, Turkey, and three Gulf states. He noted that such proposals are serious and the President of Ukraine is ready to meet with Putin at any time.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky could take place if the Ukrainian leader comes to Moscow. Russia has voiced such a proposal before. In August, Zelensky already reacted negatively to a similar idea. At that time, he stated that a meeting was possible, but "definitely not in Moscow."
