President: Armenia felled 60 thousand hectares of forests in Lachin, Kalbajar and Zangilan during the occupation period

During the occupation period, 60 thousand hectares of forest fund were destroyed, plundered, cut down, and sold by the Armenian state in the Kalbajar, Lachin, and Zangilan districts.

This was stated by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev at a meeting dedicated to the "State Program for the Development of the Mining (Metal Ore) and Metallurgical Industry in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2027-2030," an excerpt from the speech was posted on the head of state's social media pages.

"It is enough to say that during the occupation period, 60 thousand hectares of forest fund were destroyed, plundered, cut down, and sold by the Armenian state in the Kalbajar, Lachin, and Zangilan districts, and already after the Second Karabakh War, forests were burned during the period when Armenian armed forces were supposed to leave the Kalbajar and Lachin districts, for which they were given a deadline of two to three weeks.

Everyone remembers well that they both destroyed trees and did not forget about the plumbing fixtures. Apparently, there were two most important issues for them: first – to completely destroy the nature of Azerbaijan, second – to take with them the most valuable plumbing fixtures. Probably, this is the main relic of that occupation period for them," Ilham Aliyev emphasized.
