Putin and Xi Jinping meeting in Beijing: 20 cooperation documents signed
On the morning of May 20, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks at the Great Hall of the People on Tiananmen Square in Beijing.
As reported by Oxu.Az with reference to Russian media, following the talks, the parties adopted a joint declaration on the "formation of a multipolar world and a new type of international relations," as well as a statement on "strengthening the comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation."
Putin's aide Yuri Ushakov noted that the document outlines the main directions for the development of Russian-Chinese relations and a shared vision of the international agenda. Ushakov also claimed that the delegations agreed on "something very important" in the energy sector.
It was noted that the parties signed 20 documents on cooperation in various areas.
China also extended the visa-free regime for Russian citizens until the end of 2027. Thus, citizens of the Russian Federation can stay in the country without a visa for up to 30 days, with only a foreign passport required for entry.
During the open part of the talks, Putin stated that relations between Moscow and Beijing have reached an "unprecedentedly high level" and have become "a model of truly comprehensive partnership." He also called the cooperation between Russia and China "one of the main stabilizing factors on the international stage" and said that the countries jointly advocate for "a more just and democratic world order."
Xi Jinping, in turn, stated that relations between the two countries have "step by step reached their current high level." According to him, the world faces the risk of a return to the "law of the jungle," and the treaty of friendship and cooperation between Russia and China acquires special value against this backdrop.
