In India, there is an alarming increase in the number of COVID-19 cases. According to the latest data, the number of active infection cases in the country has reached 1,010 people. The epicenter of the new outbreak is the state of Kerala, where 335 new cases of infection have been detected in the last 24 hours. Significant growth has also been recorded in Maharashtra (153 cases), Delhi (99), and Gujarat (76). The state of Punjab today reported its first case of infection and immediately began tracking contacts.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to trt haber, this increase coincided with the discovery of two new COVID-19 subvariants, designated NB.1.8.1 and LF.7.

The World Health Organization (WHO) is closely monitoring the spread of new virus variants. Preliminary observations indicate their potentially high contagiousness. However, at the moment, no significant increase in disease severity has been observed.

It is noted that the NB.1.8.1 variant has an increased ability to attach to human cells, which may allow it to spread more quickly compared to previous variants.

Medical professionals report that most new cases of infection present with mild symptoms and urge citizens not to panic. State authorities recommend that the population strictly observe hygiene rules. Representatives of the Indian Ministry of Health emphasize that hospitals are prepared for a possible increase in the number of patients.

In 2025, the main symptoms of COVID-19 manifest as sore throat, weakness, mild cough, muscle pain, fever, headache, nasal congestion, nausea, and mild digestive problems.

If these symptoms do not subside within 3-4 days, citizens are advised to take a rapid antigen test or PCR test. The effectiveness of vaccines against new variants continues to be studied on a global scale.

The COVID-19 pandemic began in March 2020, and India faced two major waves of the disease. During the pandemic period, more than 500 thousand people died in the country, and the economy suffered serious losses. Kerala state was one of the first regions affected by the pandemic, with more than 30 cases of infection at the beginning of the outbreak.

Currently, it is reported that the situation is under control, and citizens are advised not to panic unnecessarily.
