Mukhtar Babayev: Turkey proposes to raise the level of electrification in the world to 35% by 2035

Turkey proposed to increase the level of electrification in the world to 35% by 2035.

As reported by Report, this was stated by the representative of the President of Azerbaijan on climate issues, Mukhtar Babayev, at the Baku Climate Action Week 2026 (BCAW 2026).

Babayev emphasized that this challenging process implies a gradual transition from traditional to new and alternative energy sources.

"It is wrong to assume that electrification concerns only energy professionals. Of course, the issue is largely related to energy as well. However, it also directly affects our buildings. Cities currently generate up to 70% of global emissions. This means that buildings, enterprises located in cities, transport, and other sectors are the largest sources of emissions."
