Iran and the USA intend to proceed to work on the text of a possible agreement
Iran and the USA discussed the role of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) at negotiations in Geneva, which it could play in relations between Tehran and Washington.
As reported by BAKU.WS citing Iranian media, this was stated by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, speaking at the UN Conference on Disarmament.
According to him, during the consultations, the possible role of the agency in developing dialogue between the parties was discussed: "Iran will continue negotiations with the IAEA at the expert level. We are always ready for substantive and fair negotiations."
Araghchi also emphasized that as a result of another round of indirect negotiations between Iran and the USA, "good progress" was achieved, and the atmosphere turned out to be more constructive compared to previous meetings. The parties generally agreed on a number of basic principles and intend to proceed to work on the text of a possible agreement.
At the same time, the Iranian Foreign Minister noted that quick results should not be expected, as the next stage of negotiations will be more complex and detailed. The timing of the new round of consultations has not yet been determined.
It should be noted that today the second round of Iranian-American negotiations took place in Geneva.
