Excessive indulgence in chocolate can negatively affect liver health and increase the risk of serious diseases, including cancer.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Terra, plastic surgeon Lucas Nasif warned about the possible consequences of excessive consumption of sweets. According to him, the liver plays a key role in processing all substances entering the body, and it is the liver that experiences increased strain when products high in sugar and fat are consumed excessively.

The expert noted that chocolate falls into this category of products, as it contains significant amounts of these components. With regular overeating, the liver begins to function in an intensified mode, which over time can lead to the development of fatty liver disease.

According to the specialist, this condition is dangerous because it increases the likelihood of more severe pathologies, including fibrosis, cirrhosis, and even liver cancer.

Among the warning signs, the doctor listed constant fatigue, a feeling of heaviness after eating, discomfort in the right upper abdomen, increased fat deposits in the abdominal area, as well as abnormalities in liver enzyme levels in blood tests.
