Evacuation of vessels has begun in the Strait of Hormuz
In the Strait of Hormuz, the evacuation of vessels trapped due to the conflict between the US, Israel, and Iran has begun under the International Maritime Organization (IMO) program.
As reported, an organization representative announced this.
According to the IMO, the initiative, which took several months to implement, will allow hundreds of vessels with approximately 11,000 sailors on board, stranded in the Persian Gulf, to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
"Vessels have already begun transiting this route," the organization's representative stated on Wednesday.
According to the LSEG vessel tracking system, at least two bulk carriers and one cargo ship have passed through the Strait of Hormuz in the last 12 hours.
It is noted that after the US and Iran reached a ceasefire agreement, vessels can use two temporary routes to exit the port: a northern route through Iranian waters and a southern route through waters controlled by Oman and the US.
"Vessel movement may be suspended at any time for safety purposes, law enforcement, or to prevent conflict situations with naval forces," the statement reads.
