The Defeat of Hezbollah and Iran's Silence

In early September, Israel officially announced the establishment of operational control over the Ali al-Tahir heights in southern Lebanon. According to the Israeli side, the operation lasted several weeks, and its targets included both ground positions and a tunnel system beneath the hills.

This is stated in a video published on the YouTube channel Azad İran.

The material notes that on September 4, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz reported the expulsion of Hezbollah militants from the tunnels. Against the backdrop of this heavy defeat for Hezbollah, its current and strategic consequences for Iran were cited as the main factor increasing the significance of the issue.

Earlier, Iran had warned the United States of its readiness to deliver a harsh response in the event of an attack on Ali al-Tahir. According to Reuters, Tehran conveyed this warning to Washington through Oman, emphasizing the likelihood of a large-scale response to a possible Israeli attack. However, after several days, no response from Tehran followed, and official Iranian media instead attempted to deny the transfer of the heights to Israeli control.

In particular, Iranian state television, citing its correspondent dispatched to the region, stated that the Ali al-Tahir height had not been occupied and that the fight had not ceased. The IRGC-affiliated Tasnim agency, in its on-site report, also mentioned ongoing resistance at the Ali al-Tahir heights and placed responsibility for what was happening on the Lebanese government.

At the same time, the material indicates that as early as September 4, Hojatoleslam Mohammad Mehdi Moslehi shared information on his page on the social network X from the well-known Iranian cleric Hamidreza Mahdavi Arfa, who was in Lebanon at the time.

He wrote that overnight the Ali al-Tahir height had, unfortunately, fallen. Moslehi noted that the fall of Ali al-Tahir is insignificant to two groups of people in Iran: those who do not realize the importance of this strategic height, and those who do not want the public to be informed about it, fearing a blow to their vain hopes for Trump's return to negotiations. In conclusion, he addressed the Iranian authorities, stating that if they delay, a repeat of the Syrian scenario is inevitable.
