Zelensky: The US is studying the possibility of de-escalation between Russia and Ukraine by winter

The US is exploring the possibility of de-escalating the conflict between Ukraine and Russia this winter and resuming negotiations on a comprehensive peace agreement.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported this in an interview with Axios.

According to him, Ukraine wants to use September and October to restart the diplomatic process for conflict resolution. It is noted that one of the possible venues could be the UN General Assembly in New York at the end of September.

Zelensky also did not rule out the possibility of a new trilateral meeting between Ukraine, the US, and Russia, but pointed to the absence of specific agreements: "We have this September, October to find any way to talk. Without dialogue… we will not have a result."

According to the Ukrainian leader, the US is also currently exploring the possibility of de-escalation agreements for the winter. However, Zelensky views this option without optimism, asserting that Moscow intends to use the winter season to strike Ukraine harder, forcing it to make further concessions.

At the same time, he noted that the authority of US President Donald Trump could play a decisive role in resolving the conflict, as this could become a diplomatic victory for the American leader ahead of the elections.
