Earthquake of magnitude 5.5 shook Turkey — FIRST FOOTAGE has emerged
Footage of a devastating 5.5-magnitude earthquake that struck Turkey has appeared online.
As reported by BAKU.WS, the videos were recorded in the Niksar district of Tokat province. The footage, which spread across social media, captured the moment of the tremors in residential buildings, shops, streets, and industrial facilities.
The earthquake caused real panic among the population. People in their comments described the extreme fear and anxiety they had to endure.
Residents of multi-story buildings and private houses were forced to leave their homes in the middle of the night and remain outside until morning.
Turkey's Minister of Internal Affairs Mustafa Çiftçi published a message on the social network "X" regarding the earthquake:
"I extend my words of support to all citizens affected by the 5.5-magnitude earthquake that occurred at 03:35 in the Niksar district of Tokat province. At this time, no information about any negative consequences has been reported. Our teams continue to carry out the necessary inspections and assessment work on site. May Allah protect our country and nation from all calamities."
Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Numan Kurtulmuş also made a statement, conveying words of support to the Turkish people in connection with the 5.5-magnitude earthquake in Tokat.
According to Turkey's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), the tremors were also felt in cities such as Samsun, Amasya, Ordu, and Sivas.
It should be noted that the tremors were recorded in the Niksar district at 03:35 local time at a depth of 6.37 kilometers.
No reports of casualties or destruction have been received at this time.
