Deputy of Klitschko arrested in Ukraine
The High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine has placed Petro Olenych, deputy mayor of Kyiv under Vitali Klitschko, under arrest for two months. He was given the option to be released on bail for approximately $362,000.
According to Baku.ws, citing Ukraine's Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, other suspects in the case were also detained, including Kyiv City Council deputy Elena Marchenko.
The detention of seven Kyiv City Council officials in a land corruption case was the result of a large-scale prosecution operation. According to the department, the illegal activities were carried out in 2023-2024.
Earlier, in late January, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported pressure from Ukrainian law enforcement agencies. He claims that the capital's authorities are being discredited to destabilize the city's life support system. As part of these actions, according to him, searches are being conducted at municipal enterprises.
