Comedy Club was banned in Uzbekistan due to "non-compliance with etiquette norms." And some jokes were requested to be cut from comedian Alexei Shcherbakov's performance.

As reported by BAKU.WS, this was announced by the Telegram channel SHOT.

According to the channel, the Ministry of Culture of the country sends prohibitions and recommendations to organizers regarding performances of visiting artists, which began back in 2023. At that time, the "Musical Comedy Club" show was planned in Tashkent, but it was postponed allegedly due to technical reasons. A new date has not been set yet. In fact, according to the organizers, the Ministry of Culture sent an official letter stating that "family, marital, male and female relationships demonstrated in the show contradict national spirituality."

According to local organizers, such cancellations are not uncommon. Artists' programs are allegedly carefully reviewed and asked to be adjusted to comply with the "moral standards of the country." This year, for example, they asked to remove some jokes from Alexei Shcherbakov's stand-up and completely canceled T-Fest's concert. At the same time as Comedy Club in 2023, performances by Grigory Leps, Irina Dubtsova, Diana Arbenina, and Zemfira were canceled.

Local organizers complain that they lose up to 90% of their income due to such prohibitions.
