The most ancient text describing the second miracle of Jesus Christ has been discovered

A group of German scientists made an unexpected discovery during a re-analysis of an ancient scroll stored in the collection of the Hamburg State Library. The document, which had long been considered an ordinary letter, turned out to be a fragment of an apocryphal Gospel that tells about the childhood of Jesus Christ.

The key moment in the research was the discovery of Jesus' name in the text. Careful study of the papyrus allowed researchers to decipher an episode in which five-year-old Jesus Christ, playing by the river, molded sparrow figures from clay. When his father Joseph reminded him about the prohibition of working on the Sabbath, Jesus brought these birds to life with a wave of his hand, and they flew away.

This story, known as the second miracle of Christ, is not new to religious studies and is found in other apocryphal sources. However, the uniqueness of the Hamburg finding lies in its age. Radiocarbon analysis showed that the papyrus dates back to the fourth - fifth centuries CE, making it one of the oldest written mentions of this miracle.

Specialists emphasize that the discovered text does not change the canonical representation of the Gospel, but it has great significance for the study of early Christian literature and the formation of traditions that were not included in the biblical canon.
