It is traditionally believed that the main enemies of the cardiovascular system are stress and poor nutrition. However, there are specific habits common among many women that slowly but surely undermine heart health. These include strict diets, chronic sleep deprivation due to "deferred life syndrome," constant wearing of high heels, and frequent use of painkillers. This was discussed by Russian specialist Elvira Khachirova.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to "Gazeta.Ru," the female heart is physiologically more resilient compared to the male heart, yet it is extremely sensitive to stress and hormonal fluctuations. Before the onset of menopause, estrogen provides natural protection to the organ, but with an unhealthy lifestyle, this barrier stops functioning, and the heart wears out significantly faster. The doctor identifies strict diets as one of the most dangerous habits: a drastic elimination of carbohydrates deprives the myocardium of the glucose it needs. As a result, protein breakdown begins, including in the tissues of the heart itself, which can lead to dystrophy and arrhythmia. For safe weight loss, the expert recommends keeping vegetables and whole grains in the diet.

Another critical factor is sleep deprivation, which occurs when women sacrifice nighttime rest for household chores or personal time. Sleeping less than 6 hours does not allow the nervous system to recover, triggers cortisol release, and keeps the blood vessels in a constant state of tension, increasing the risk of heart attack by 30%. The love of high heels also plays a role: when worn constantly, the calf muscles stop effectively pushing venous blood upward toward the heart. This creates stagnation, increases the strain on the organ, and raises the risk of blood clot formation. The specialist also cautioned against the overuse of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), which cause fluid retention, raise blood pressure, and negatively affect the kidneys. In conclusion, Khachirova reminded that smoking and excess caffeine only exacerbate these processes, causing arterial spasms and exhausting the nervous system.
