Doctor urged not to brush teeth immediately after one type of food

Dentist Andrés Ramírez warned about a common mistake in dental care after consuming sugary foods.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Deia, the specialist noted that brushing teeth immediately after eating sweets can be harmful to enamel. According to him, sugar, once it enters the oral cavity, is quickly converted into acid, which has an aggressive effect on teeth.
The doctor explained that when brushing teeth immediately, a person essentially rubs this acid into the enamel, which can cause its demineralization and weakening. To avoid such consequences, Ramírez recommends waiting at least 30 minutes before performing hygiene procedures.
In addition, the expert advises against stretching out the consumption of sweets over a long period, snacking every 10–15 minutes. It is much safer to eat dessert in one sitting — this reduces the duration of acid exposure on the teeth and helps lower the risk of enamel damage.
