Providing housing for all segments of the population remains one of the key global challenges; inclusive policies, accessibility, and sustainable urban development are being discussed.

This is stated in a report by the Euronews TV channel dedicated to the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), which will be held in Baku from May 17 to 22.

"The housing issue remains one of the key problems of urban development: more than one billion people worldwide live in unacceptable conditions. Accelerated urbanization, rising prices, and population growth continue to put pressure on cities.

The 13th session of the World Urban Forum is becoming a platform for discussing solutions in the field of inclusive and sustainable development. Authorities emphasize the importance of comprehensive approaches that link housing policy with infrastructure development, employment, and community planning.

To expand access to housing and ensure long-term development, large-scale programs and reconstruction projects aimed at improving living conditions and strengthening social stability are also being implemented," the report states.

The report also notes that Azerbaijan, the host of the forum, is presenting its experience in the field of housing construction, post-conflict recovery, and the implementation of large-scale social programs.

Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Shusha district Aydin Karimov, in turn, highlighted the organizational and time-related challenges associated with the implementation of reconstruction projects.

"We all faced certain difficulties, among which the key ones were time, as well as the organization of construction of residential facilities and buildings. Currently, 1,400 people live in Shusha — approximately 377 families," he stated.
