The doctor explained why testosterone levels are declining in men worldwide
Men's health expert Dr. Jeff Foster has stated that testosterone levels in men have significantly declined over recent decades. According to him, this process may be influenced by obesity, chronic diseases, exposure to high temperatures, and chemicals that disrupt the endocrine system. He discussed this in a conversation with Metro.
According to the specialist, from 1972 to 2019, the average testosterone level in men decreased by approximately 54%. These data were provided by the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE).
"This is a staggering statistic that raises serious concern, as testosterone plays an important role in maintaining health throughout life," Foster noted.
The doctor explained that one of the main reasons for the decline in hormone levels is considered to be the growing prevalence of obesity and diabetes. In addition, high temperatures, as well as certain chemical compounds that can disrupt the endocrine system, may have a negative impact.
According to the expert, testosterone deficiency is linked not only to reduced sex drive and fertility. A lack of the hormone can also increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases and diabetes, as well as negatively affect mental health.
At the same time, the specialist emphasized that declining testosterone levels are not an inevitable part of aging. In his opinion, maintaining hormonal health is supported by weight management, regular physical activity, adequate sleep, and timely treatment of chronic diseases.
