Since the end of the Patriotic War in 2020, 437 Azerbaijani citizens, including civilians, military personnel, deminers, journalists, and individuals involved in reconstruction work, have become victims of accidents related to mines and explosive objects. As a result of these incidents, 73 people were killed and 364 were seriously injured.

As reported by AZERTAC, this was stated in the address of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to the participants of the IV International Conference on Mine Action entitled "Humanitarian Demining for Urban Recovery: Setting Best Practice Standards for the Safety of Populated Areas."

"In total, since the beginning of Armenia's aggression against Azerbaijan, more than 3,500 of our citizens have been affected by mines. Among them are children, women, and other civilians whose lives were tragically changed by this hidden threat," the head of state emphasized.
