President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, during his speech at the "SCO plus" format meeting, stated that the South Caucasus region is turning into a zone of peace.

This was reported in a segment by the Turkish television channel Haber Global, prepared about the visit of the President of Azerbaijan to the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek.

"A little over a year ago, Azerbaijan and Armenia initialed the text of a peace agreement, putting an end to a 30-year conflict," Ilham Aliyev emphasized in his speech.

The head of state added that in this way, the South Caucasus region, which had been a zone of conflict for many years, is turning into a zone of peace.

The segment draws attention to the fact that Ilham Aliyev criticized the UN for its inability to ensure the implementation of resolutions.

Emphasizing that the four resolutions of the UN Security Council adopted in 1993 were implemented 30 years later — three years ago, Ilham Aliyev stated: "But unfortunately, the UN played no role in the implementation of these resolutions. Azerbaijan itself fully restored its sovereignty and territorial integrity. The implementation of UN Security Council resolutions within a short timeframe requires the development of appropriate mechanisms."
