Iran announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz

Tehran has announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz amid the resumption of hostilities between Iran and the United States.

As reported by the Fars news agency, this was stated by the spokesperson of the Commission on National Security and Foreign Policy of the Iranian Parliament, Ebrahim Rezaei.

According to him, members of parliament approved a number of requirements within the framework of the project "Strategic Activities to Ensure the Security of the Strait of Hormuz." Under the conditions, navigation through Hormuz will only be possible after the payment of transit tariffs and military compensations.

"Countries that have inflicted damage on Iran in any form during the war with the United States must reach an agreement with Tehran on the payment of compensation, otherwise they will not be permitted passage through the strait," the statement reads.

Additionally, to gain access to the route, vessels must obtain insurance and a bank guarantee.

It should be noted that today the U.S. Armed Forces launched massive strikes on Iranian targets in the Strait of Hormuz. The IRGC, in turn, reported that Iran carried out retaliatory strikes on U.S. bases in the Middle East.
