Mirziyoyev: Uzbekistan Will Achieve the Goal of Increasing GDP to 160 Billion Dollars Ahead of Schedule

Uzbekistan will fulfill the previously set goal of bringing the gross domestic product volume to $160 billion as early as 2026.

As Report conveys, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced this at an event dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the republic's independence.

"Three years ago, we planned to bring the gross domestic product volume to $160 billion by 2030. Despite disruptions in global logistics and the turbulent situation in the world, we will fulfill this goal as early as this year," he said.

According to the president, after this Uzbekistan will join the ranks of countries with upper-middle income per capita.

The head of state noted that in recent years, a set of large-scale reforms has been carried out in the country in the areas of currency, tax, customs, and investment policy.

"If previously $2-3 billion in foreign investments were attracted to the national economy annually, currently this figure exceeds $40-50 billion," Mirziyoyev emphasized.

The president added that along with investments, advanced technologies, modern knowledge, and new economic opportunities are coming to the country.

He also noted that Uzbekistan, demonstrating political will, opened up to the world, settled border issues, and strengthened friendly ties and cooperation with neighboring states.
