Masoud Pezeshkian spoke to Ilham Aliyev in Azerbaijani: debates erupted in Iran
Yesterday, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian spoke in Azerbaijani during a meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in the Kyrgyz capital Bishkek, sparking a wave of criticism in the Persian-language segment of social media.
This was reported by the Telegram channel "Free Iran."
An active discussion unfolded on the X platform. Some Persian-speaking users criticized Pezeshkian for using his native language during an international meeting and posted messages calling for his removal from office.
A user under the nickname Armor, publishing footage from the meeting, wrote:
"Mr. Pezeshkian, you are making a mistake by speaking Turkish as a representative of Iran at an international meeting! The official language of Iran is Persian. Even the Supreme Leader, despite his excellent command of Arabic, spoke Persian during meetings with representatives of Arab countries. There was no need to speak Turkish!"
