Russia extradited four wanted individuals to Azerbaijan
In accordance with the provisions of the Convention "On Legal Assistance and Legal Relations in Civil, Family and Criminal Cases" of October 7, 2002, the requests of the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan (AR) for the extradition of Azerbaijani citizens - Emil Orudjov, Babek Alekperov, Baloglan Gurbanov and Vagif Mamedov - were satisfied by the General Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation (RF).
This was reported by the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan.
"Reasonable suspicions were established regarding these individuals in committing crimes under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan. In this regard, decisions were made to charge them as accused. Since they were hiding from the investigation, they were placed on an international wanted list," - the department's statement emphasizes.
All four, detained on the territory of the Russian Federation, were extradited to Azerbaijan accompanied by a convoy from the special unit of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice.
In addition, on December 10, 2024, Georgian citizen Vakhtang Kurtanidze, who was on an interstate wanted list, was detained in the Gazakh district. In accordance with the aforementioned Convention, the request of the General Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation for his extradition to face criminal charges was satisfied by the General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan.
"The detainee was transferred to the competent authorities of Russia accompanied by a convoy from the special unit of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice," - the statement notes.
