Azerbaijan expressed condolences to Kazakhstan over the death of military personnel in the Caspian Sea

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Azerbaijan expressed condolences to Kazakhstan on the official page on the social network X in connection with the death and injury of military personnel during exercises in the Caspian Sea.

"We deeply mourn the tragic loss of lives during the military exercises of the Naval Forces of Kazakhstan in the Caspian Sea.

We express our deepest condolences to the families and relatives of the fallen military personnel, as well as to the brotherly people and government of Kazakhstan. May Allah grant peace to the souls of the deceased and give their families strength and patience during these difficult days.

We hope that the missing will be found alive and unharmed, and we wish the injured servicemember a speedy recovery," the statement of the foreign affairs department reads.

Deeply saddened by the tragic loss of lives during the military exercises of the Navy of #Kazakhstan in the Caspian Sea. We extend our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the fallen servicemen, as well as to the brotherly people and Government of Kazakhstan. In addition, Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan Colonel General Zakir Hasanov sent condolences to Minister of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan Lieutenant General Dauren Kosanov.

The condolence message states: "I am deeply saddened by the news of the death of nine military personnel who drowned during exercises in the Caspian Sea, the injury of one servicemember, and seven persons missing. I express deep condolences to the families and loved ones of those who perished as a result of this tragic accident and wish a speedy recovery to the injured servicemember. I hope for a positive outcome of the search and rescue operations. May the Almighty grant peace to the souls of the deceased. Allah rehmet elyasin!"

It should be noted that on September 24, in the Mangistau region, during exercises of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan, while carrying out a training combat mission on the coast of the Caspian Sea, due to a sharp deterioration in meteorological conditions and strengthening winds, military personnel were swept out to sea. Nineteen servicemembers were swept into the sea. As of now, the deaths of 9 military personnel have been confirmed. Three people have been rescued.
