A new stage of the urban green spaces inventory project has begun

At the initiative of the Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and head of the IDEA Public Union Leyla Aliyeva, a new stage of the "Registration and Numbering of Trees in Baku City" project, implemented since 2022, has begun.
As reported by BAKU.WS, on April 13, with the participation of Leyla Aliyeva, tree registration was carried out in a recently opened park located in the Narimanov district of the capital, and numbered plates were attached to them. Additionally, 50 olive trees were planted in the park area.
The main goal of the project, implemented by IDEA in cooperation with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, as well as local Executive authorities and municipalities, is to ensure the sustainability of green space protection, prevent cases of interference, form a refined inventory platform and registry, as well as strengthen public control.
It should be noted that within the framework of the project, an information system "Urban Green Spaces Registry" has already been created. About 25,000 trees have been registered in the Sabail district of Baku, and in the coming months, the inventory process through the application of numbered plates will be completed.
At the same time, during the pilot phase of the project implementation in Ataturk Park and landscaped courtyards in the Narimanov district, 2,352 trees have been registered and inventoried. Each of them has plates with a unique identifier.
In order to provide open access to information about trees for the public, the portal www.agac.az has been launched in test mode. This portal was created as an integral part of the "Digital Ecology" information system, the regulations of which were approved by the decree of the President of Azerbaijan dated January 10, 2025, number 282.
The registration covers all green spaces in the administrative territory of the city - in parks, along roads, and in courtyards. The process is carried out by pre-organized groups by attaching a special plate to the trunk of each tree and entering accurate data about it into an electronic database. The numbering is done in a completely safe way for trees. The plates are made of durable material and contain the tree number and a QR code containing links to its individual profile.
The partners of the tree registration and numbering project in Baku call on everyone to support the preservation and multiplication of green spaces, to unite for the green future of our nature.
