July 1 is not marked in the official calendar of Azerbaijan, however, the residents of Baku have adopted this date as "Baku Residents' Day" and remember it with a special mood.

As reported by BAKU.WS, today the residents of the capital are half-jokingly, half-seriously celebrating "Baku Residents' Day". Baku is an ancient city where history and modernity merge, located on the western shore of the Caspian Sea, in the southern part of the Absheron Peninsula. Our capital, known as the city of winds, has a dry subtropical climate and occupies an area of 2130 square kilometers.

The city of Baku with 12 administrative districts and 59 settlements is the social, cultural and economic center of the country. The coastal part of the city is 28 meters below the world ocean level and is rich in natural resources - oil, gas, construction materials.

Baku is also known for its rich history. The Maiden Tower, the Palace of the Shirvanshahs, fortress walls, medieval caravanserais and mosques are still preserved, keeping our history.

Speaking about the capital, one cannot forget about Baku millionaires, intelligentsia and famous spiritual figures - throughout history, this city has been the leading force of Azerbaijani culture and development.

The team of BAKU.WS congratulates all residents of Baku and true Baku natives - today is your day!
