Jeyhun Bayramov met with António Guterres

Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with UN Secretary-General António Guterres within the framework of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan on the social network X.

The parties exchanged views on regional and international processes, including those related to Azerbaijan's activities.

Azerbaijan's active participation in the activities of the UN and its specialized agencies was particularly noted, as well as its contribution to the development of multilateralism, international law, and the promotion of the principles of the UN Charter.

During the discussions, Azerbaijan's contribution as a donor country and its humanitarian initiatives were also reviewed.

During the conversation, the parties addressed issues of the global climate agenda and sustainable development, noting Azerbaijan's successful hosting of COP29, as well as its growing role in the areas of renewable energy, transport, and regional connectivity.

Jeyhun Bayramov provided information on the latest progress in the normalization process of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, efforts to strengthen trust in the South Caucasus, large-scale reconstruction work aimed at supporting the return of former internally displaced persons, as well as demining activities.
