Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov spoke at the general debate of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

As reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, the full text of the speech is presented below:

"Against the backdrop of the increasingly complex nature of global challenges, no country is able to address them alone. At the same time, the growing limitations of multilateral mechanisms continue to weaken our collective ability to effectively respond to existing and emerging threats.

Although confronting these realities requires joint action, genuine transformation is impossible without restoring trust in the international order and demonstrating that multilateralism is once again capable of delivering concrete results for all.

In this current period, characterized by fragmentation, growing intolerance and glaring double standards, Azerbaijan advocates for a renewed and reformed multilateral system based on strict adherence to universally recognized norms and principles of international law and their consistent and non-selective application.

Azerbaijan advocates for a more effective United Nations capable of delivering concrete results for member states in the areas of peace and security, development, climate resilience and humanitarian action.

Through inclusive multilateralism, all states, regardless of their size, especially developing countries, must have the opportunity to participate on an equal basis in global decision-making.

In this regard, it is necessary to reform the UN Security Council in order to ensure broader representation, effectiveness and flexibility.

Restoring global trust begins first and foremost with respect for international law, sovereign equality and the principles of peaceful coexistence. It is on these principles that our efforts to ensure peace and stability in the South Caucasus are based.

Although the decades-long conflict with Armenia brought grave tragedies to our people and left deep scars on our territory, Azerbaijan chose the path to the future and decided to turn the page on enmity.

We offered Armenia peace based on mutual recognition and respect for each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity, fully in line with the norms and principles of international law.

As a result of our normalization efforts, historic results were achieved at the Washington Peace Summit last August. At the summit, the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia, in the presence of President of the United States Donald Trump, signed a Joint Declaration. Through this Declaration, both sides confirmed the cessation of the conflict and their joint will to build a peaceful and prosperous future. The parties also initialed the Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations.

At present, we have de facto achieved peace. Furthermore, Azerbaijan has unilaterally lifted transit restrictions, facilitating the transportation of goods to and from Armenia. We have also established bilateral trade ties. Despite growing instability in international markets and
