On December 23, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev took part in the opening of the 110/35/10-kilovolt "Khankendi-1" electrical substation of JSC "AzerEnergy" in the city of Khankendi.

As reported by BAKU.WS, the chairman of the board of JSC "AzerEnergy" Baba Rzayev informed the head of state about the work done at the substation.

Note that according to the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev on creating infrastructure for sustainable electricity supply to the territories liberated from occupation, a 110/35/10-kilovolt indoor substation was built in the city of Khankendi in accordance with the modern urban network model. To connect Khankendi and surrounding areas to the country's energy system, a high-voltage power transmission line with a total length of 11 km, of which 1.8 km is underground cable, was laid from the city of Shusha to Khankendi through terrain with complex mountain and forest relief. This substation is the first 110-kilovolt indoor substation built in the territories liberated from occupation. Here, all equipment and devices, including transformers, are placed inside the building.

It was noted that the most modern microprocessor Digital Control Center has been created at the substation. This micro-SCADA system was created by specialists from JSC "AzerEnergy" and was first applied specifically in Khankendi. The system provides real-time monitoring, control, and tracking of high-voltage power lines and equipment. The substation will reliably and uninterruptedly supply electricity to the city of Khankendi, Agderin, Khojaly, and Khojavend districts.

The head of state was also informed about the application of innovative technologies in the organization and operation of the circular power supply system created in Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur with a length of up to 1000 kilometers.

It was noted that JSC "AzerEnergy", having laid high-voltage power transmission lines with a length of 1000 kilometers in Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur in record time - just 5 years - connected them in a chain with 12 new substations and created a two-stage circular power supply system with a voltage of 330 and 110 kV. For this purpose, a new Jabrayil energy hub was built, and the "Imishli", "Agjabedi", and "Ganja" substations were completely reconstructed. This is the largest innovation in the history of energy in Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur, as in case of an accident in any direction, electricity supply will be automatically and uninterruptedly provided from the opposite direction.

The next innovative development implemented by JSC "AzerEnergy" for operation organization is the Monitoring and Analysis systems for substations and overhead lines using digital technologies, which will cover the entire country, starting from Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur. For this purpose, the most modern digital instruments and devices were purchased, and local young engineering personnel participated in advanced training courses abroad. The new system, using high-precision cameras and thermal imagers installed on vehicles and specialized drones, ensures the acquisition, processing, and transmission of images to the server at power plants, substations, and lines, as well as determining the dimensions, distances, and overheating points using laser technologies, which allows identifying accident risks invisible to the naked eye.

President Ilham Aliyev was also informed about the mega-projects being implemented by JSC "AzerEnergy" for the transition to green energy. It was noted that work has been completed on the country's largest substation - the 500-kilovolt "Navai" substation, the connection of the "Shafag" solar power plant to the energy system, and the construction of a 330-kilovolt substation in Jabrayil and a 220-kilovolt substation in Sangachal for the electrification of the Sangachal terminal. The creation of energy storage systems based on battery cells for the dynamic development of renewable energy sources in Azerbaijan continues at a rapid pace. These energy facilities, which are the largest in terms of power and volume of battery-based energy storage systems in the CIS space, are being built on the territories of the "Absheron" and "Agdash" substations. In order to facilitate the integration of newly created renewable energy sources with a capacity of 2 GW into the network and strengthen the sustainability of the energy system, Wide Area Monitoring Systems and Wide Area Control are being applied in the country.
