Named popular drinks that strengthen gut health
Banana kefir smoothie, chicory, green tea, blueberry yogurt, and kombucha help reduce symptoms of inflammatory bowel diseases and maintain beneficial bacteria balance. This was shared by Olga Tarasova, Associate Professor at the Department of Hospital Pediatrics No. 2 of the Institute of Motherhood and Childhood at Pirogov University.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to "Gazeta.Ru", the specialist noted that digestive tract health is directly connected to the immune system function: intestinal bacteria participate in vitamin synthesis and protection of the organism from pathogens. To normalize the microflora, the doctor recommends including probiotic-rich foods in the diet.
According to Tarasova, kefir and yogurt contain live microorganisms - lactobacilli and bifidobacteria, similar to those inhabiting the intestines. Consumption of kombucha also contributes to increasing their numbers. Additionally, the expert advises not to forget about prebiotics - fruits, vegetables, legumes, grains, and chicory, which is rich in fiber.
For dysbiosis, it's beneficial to combine prebiotics and probiotics, for example, consume banana smoothie with kefir or yogurt with blueberries. And for inflammatory bowel diseases, the doctor recommends green tea: the polyphenols it contains help fight harmful bacteria and reduce symptoms of IBD and peptic ulcer. The expert advises drinking up to three cups of green tea per day.
