Australian resident received her son's body back, which was missing its heart, reports the Daily Mail.

23-year-old Byron Haddow was found dead in a shallow pool on the island of Bali. When the body was sent to Australia, the Queensland coroner conducted a follow-up examination and informed the mother that her son's heart had been removed. "They just called and asked if we knew that his heart was left in Bali," the woman said, describing the news as a "gut punch".

The family was able to retrieve the organ only after several weeks. The mother spent an additional 700 Australian dollars (approximately 39 thousand rubles) on the repatriation. The heart was removed during an examination in Bali without notifying the relatives, despite the family's prior request to return the "whole body".

According to the local pathologist, Dr. Nola Margaret Gunawan, under Indonesian law, relatives' consent is not required for organ removal during forensic examination. The first autopsy showed that death occurred due to a combination of alcohol and antidepressants. However, Byron's mother does not rule out murder. She points out that her son was 178 centimeters tall, while the pool depth was only 150 centimeters. The investigation continues.
