The Pentagon has admitted the possibility of withdrawing US troops from bases in the Middle East
The Pentagon does not rule out the possibility of withdrawing troops from some American bases in the Middle East that were damaged during the war against Iran. This was stated by U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth while speaking with journalists at the American embassy in Singapore.
When asked whether the U.S. is considering abandoning the reconstruction of some bases in the region and withdrawing troops from them, Hegseth stated that "this decision will be made by the country's president, Donald Trump, based on the direction he intends to move." "We have a good assessment of our partnerships in the region. These decisions will be made based on the outcome," he said.
"At this point, our troops are in position and ready to get back into the fight if necessary," Hegseth added, expressing confidence that Iran "will abandon its nuclear ambitions" during negotiations with the U.S. "These are decisions the president will have to make in the future based on how this concludes, but I am confident that we will arrive at a deal that will serve the interests of the American people," he emphasized.
